Totokaelo has re-emerged in their new location and has nailed it to the enth degree. Seattle has such a strong community of smart, savvy, design nerds that are in the know of what is happening in the art, fashion and design world, and yet somehow, our reputation is that because we are outdoor enthusiasts, flannel wearing, techno-geeks, that we can't have taste. But here's the thing, and the major difference between us and many other major cities, Seattle has both!...People here are smart and have taste...The advantage of having computer geeks everywhere is that we know what is happening in the world, and our eyes are opened to new art, design, music, everyday. We sit on the computer, we order some shoes from Colette Paris, or Totokaelo, we read our favorite blogs, and then we go for a hike, or go on our boats...We try hard to be non-materialists because we are smarter than that, which makes us fabulous editors...By editors I mean we usually don't spend our money on crap....We edit our pieces to a few amazing things, along with an amazing vintage piece from a thrift store in Snohomish, and we eat from the cheap, but amazingly fresh taco truck for a week to rationalize our purchase...We are gardeners, foodies, readers, bloggers, art lovers, outdoorsmen, and we like our small, but select group of friends. Of course we have our croc wearin', teva and sock lovin' folks that could give a crap about design, etc. who might be environmental stewards, or activists of some sort that contribute hugely to our beautiful state. I love them just as much....
Ok, enough with my babbling, let's talk about these pics. One of the reasons I brought up editing is because the owner of Totokaelo, Jill Wegner, is a master of it....Everything, and I mean everything, is masterfully edited....

There is so much to do in this neighborhood right now, I frequent the yummy Oddfellow's restaurant, which is right next door, and Elliot Bay books, on the other side. If you are in the hood, and want to meet up, send me a message and let's do lunch!
